Comparison: Differences
The way the people live on their basins is very different. Not many people live near the amazon. It’s mostly tribes and a few others; however, most of the people live near the Nile River since it’s easier to live there. I think the reason not that many people live near the Amazon River is because it is surrounded by the amazon rainforest. Some people live near it, but not as much as near the Nile. One difference between the Nile and the Amazon is their conflicts. They have different water conflicts. The Nile countries have a conflict about who owns the Nile, especially now that Ethiopia is building a new dam called the Renaissance Dam that might block Sudan and Egypt’s water source. This is causing a huge conflict because there are many people that may die because they live on the Nile’s water. The amazon rivers problem is not that different. It is also about dams. They have a big problem because having too many dams can cause many problems. They are currently building or already built about 140 dams on the river. One of the problems of having too many dams is that it will slow the water’s flow. This means that the water will get warmer. The change in temperature will prevent fish eggs from maturing and there will be a decline in fish population. When the river gets warmer, the pH also changes and it also leads to a decline in plant and animal species that cant adapt to that change. The problems with both rivers are different but they are both as important.
